I'm missing a couple of teeth after this one. I've got to toughen up.

Wonderful winter set.

Sasso, That Mummers situation raised a small stir. The Ferko String Band's "Bringin' Back Those Minstrel Days" got a couple of writeups. You're well aware of the history The Mummers have with that sort of thing.

As for The Noodle, I don't know. It was installed as part of the LOVE Park Christmas Village last year and was taken down the first week of 2012 and returned for this past Christmas. I'm surprised that it's still there. Nothing wrong with pop art and random props but how about...not by the Robert Indiana?

I just returned from Philly yesterday, and it is easily my second favorite city in America. The size, the grit, the pace, the location, the urban character, the diversity, the transit options, the history... it all combines to make a really incredible city. And it's not pretentious about itself at all. It was also a trip full of random encounters... Jive and I literally bumped into a good friend of ours from St. Louis on South Street. We also stopped in a t-shirt shop in Society Hill owned by a native St. Louisan who grew up a half mile from our childhood home. And best of all... we finally met the great Giovanni Sasso!
We hit the jackpot on every restaurant we went to-- seriously, Philly has incredible food. I was also impressed with the level of diversity on the streets.
One final observation-- Philly is king of '70s and '80s architecture. There is a dizzying amount of it. Not only office buildings, but tons of '80s style infill rowhouses all over the place. It works, though, and it only adds to the retro urban vibe that Philly has in spades.
