i'm glad you all like the bridge so far. PitaCon has got around some of the problems and it is coming along.
in fact, traffic testing has commenced. while the bridge is not yet complete, it is structurally sound and can support the traffic. the city contacted 1300 city residents who would take part in a daily, morning and night, regulated traffic test. so far, there have been no reports of failures of any kind.
the next stage in developement is adding more steel, but it is for appearance only. however, there will be one more thing added that adds strength to the bridge. very heavy steel towers will be constructed at the main intersecting trusses (near the ends of the steel frame above the concrete pillars under the pavement). this will make the ends of the steel frame heavier so this will increase the amount of weight allowed to travel across the bridge.
also, currently the clearance for underpassing boats is 75 feet. this does allow most large ships through, but not all! to fix this, the middle section road will be converted into a draw-bridge soon. this will allow 100 more feet of clearance so all large ships can pass. it will only be lifted if its necessary though, which, estimated by the city, would be about 13 times a day, or roughly once every two-hours.
thanks for reading. more soon to come.
