And a little Peoria/Chicago

When we last left we were back in Chicago, but now The Taste is in full swing.

Then decided that Chicago is attracting waaaaay too many people so lets go some place a little less urban.

The bike trail runs next to this California-ish canal that leads to the Illinois river.

And they finally finished the trail. The rest is "urban" meaning sidewalk or street.

One of the "new" bldgs. 3-4 years old by now.

About as good as it gets from here.

Wanna be in jail in the city? Here's the place you live when you're almost ready for society.

Which is just up the street from a law firm.

And across the street from an abandoned theater, yep Peoria has it all

Holiday inn.

But they do have some sweet historic buildings which aren't dilapidated.

And what would Peoria be without CAT.

Look in the background in the trees and see the mansions from back in the day.

This used to be a bunch of plastic bushes hopefully they'll keep these alive.

Peoria has some sisters.

Bradley University. Looks of a prison/retirement home but is actually a college.

Back to the historic buildings.

One last shot and were heading back to Chicago.

Saw the Navy Pier fireworks then saw these around Montrose.

Which was enough to turn Lake Shore into a parking lot.

Peoria has a housing stock, particularly up on the bluff, that would surprise most folks on here. You sort of captured these from afar. I'm in town on business about twice a year, next time I go I'll try to grabs some photos. Thanks for sharing these.

' Tallboy66 ' ,

FYI.... Outsiders are welcome to say whatever YOU will about Peoria! ' Bricks and Mortar ' or other vanities may be more appealing to, many, big-city people than civic welfare (ex: education, health, public safety, etc.) and maintaining a sense of humility. That mentality, just, doesn't ' Play in Peoria '!.... UNDERSTAND?

Gotta take the good with the bad. NO city is perfect, so...don't focus on one or 2 negative/opinions but yet TRUTHFUL comments and focus on the entire thread(s).
