I'm sure that Cleveland has been pretty well-documented here, but I thought I'd share some pictures I took of the city when I was there this week for a few days to watch an Indians game.
The Mall is completely torn up, and it has left a HUGE void and a very deep hole. I was a little disappointed because I was looking forward to seeing it. It appears as though the city is renovating the entire area and its convention centre/medical mart (at least that's what I think is happening; feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, Clevelanders!)
The Warehouse District is great, and it was pretty lively during the evening hours even though it was midweek.
Surface parking near the Warehouse District; some fine buildings were lost here, I'm sure(?)
Perhaps I have low standards coming from Hamilton, but Euclid Avenue, and pretty much the entire downtown, really surprised me. I don't know why, but I didn't expect it to be as vibrant as it was. There were a lot of very well-dressed professionals in large groups strolling the sidewalks, dining on East 4th, enjoying the parks, etc. I actually felt out of place in my shorts and sandals. There were also more joggers throughout the downtown core than I think I have ever seen in any other city!
A hulking beauty.
Progressive Field (oops, sorry, The Jake) really impressed me. It's one of my new favourites.
A section to ourselves, a beautiful skyline view, a sunny afternoon ballgame......it doesn't get much better than this.
A father enjoys the game with his child and buddy. Awesome.
I thought I'd include a few evening pictures of portions of the Buffalo skyline taken at 65mph just as we're about to cross the border.
Thanks for looking, take care.
