Freki: What do you think of the overhead streetlight setup in Copenhagen? Do you like it?

To be honest I only really notice it in pics - when on the street it's like the light is just there..

Because of the bike lanes there isn't much room for sidewalks and if we had to have lampposts everywhere it would be problematic, so as such I do like them as they take up very little space this way, but when taking pics I would prefere lampposts at times instead of the omnipresent cables

How do you feel about them if I may ask?

Today a visit to one of the newer residental areas on the island of Amager in the outer parts of the Ørestad district

How and where do they attach the overhead lights? Are they attached to the buildings, or nearby poles? They always seem to be neat and tidy though. I like that. The wires don't seem to be too big or noticeable. Honestly my eye is drawn more to the street scene and buildings. What I like about them is the lack of light poles all over the city streets and plaza. I would imagine the lack of poles is a plus since it cuts down on the possibility of graffiti, though I doubt that's something Copenhagen has to deal with. But it would also probably cut down on flyers all over the lamp posts, which in turn would cut down on litter I guess.

^^
Copenhagen has graffiti all over the place. It is one of the European inner cities with most graffiti that I have been to, together with Berlin and Hamburg.

In Copenhagen, street light wires are attached to both poles and buildings - it depends on the street and building set up I guess. In Malmö most light wires are attached to buildings on either side of the road - same for Stockholm I think.

What do I think of the lighting? I feel pretty much the same as you; I think the streetscape looks clean and clutter free and it is probably great for walking and riding around without poles and wires everywhere. But for pictures, yeah, I think it would be nice to not have the wires in the way sometimes. But overall, it is probably a great system, I would think.

Also, I echo Olga's thoughts, that building on the right is absolutely great. I would love to live there and have one of those beautiful balconies.

Oh, cool dorm then! But no, I'm too cheap to pay for school. I just surf SSP and read books in my living room to learn about the world.

School is free here - but I must admit I certainly prefere SSP over school too

By request a visit to the Frederiksstaden district, known for among other things the Royal Palace and the Marble Church

^ Not really it's a rather boring area with a mix of worker apartments and suburban style housing.. atleast compared to districts such as Frederiksberg or Nørrebro or of course Downtown..

Things are slowly changing - they just got a hip new center with trendy stores and and more and more cafes pop up, but in terms of recreational options it's nothing special..

About the size between 50 and 100.000 are pretty normal for Copenhagen districts..

Today a revisit to my beloved Kings Square in the Old town

Your pics really make me want to go to Copenhagen, but then I remember that the weather these days isn't exactly the same as in the photos...

Well, it's a great city anyways, so I could go despite the weather.

Today's visit goes to the old free habour "Søndre Frihavn" that is now a commercial district with some expensive appartment blocks where among others Crown Princess Mary used to live before she married our Crown Prince

On the right side you see Langelinie where all the cruise ships dock - Copenhagen is the largest cruiseship habour in Northern Europe and we get more than 300.000 visitors yearly from Cruise ships alone..
