I like how Manhattan temporarily distorts one's sense of scale. Wide streets look narrow and buildings that would dominate in other cities blend into the background. When you actually start comparing the people to their surroundings or counting floors you start to realize how big things are.

The other interesting sensation is experienced when leaving Manhattan after a few days and your field of view is no longer dominated by vertical walls.

Amazing images!

Those night shots with the tops of the taller skyscrapers disappearing into the fog add a sense of mystery to a city that has been covered so many times in the "My City Photos" section.

Nice shots of a lot of classic buildings like the Metropolitan Life Insurance building, Seagrams, and Lever House.
