Sweet Jesus...now here is a place that I NEVER thought that I would see on this board. The town itself is quite charming, although it is completely surrounded by sprawl for the most part, especially to the east on Route 7, towards DC. And even though you are about 40 miles away from the city, the house prices are still outrageous in comparison to most of the country. That being said, it has some of the best views in the DC area. You gotta hit Fairfax City next, and then Old Town of course. You have a way of showing details that even most residents would miss. Hell, I live 15 miles from there (Herndon), and never go past the outlet mall for the most part.

What a beautiful downtown. Virginia has some great Main Streets - I remember driving through a town called Staunton and being so impressed.

Is the proposed Silver Line supposed to go in to Leesburg?

Cute town. I love the stone cottage next to the Green Tree. Looks like something you might see on Germantown Avenue.

Go away, DCers!

No, it's supposed to stop in Ashburn (which is the town right before Leesburg), sometime around 2015.

It's a shame that an area like Loudoun County can get devoured by Toll Brothers. Tasteless fuckers.

That could be applied to Loudoun County as a whole. Leesburg is its seat and largest real town, but there are numerous absolutely charming hidden hamlets. You turn a corner and there’ll be a great little town tucked between some hills. Unfortunately the county is arguably the worst sprawl offender in the eastern part of the United States. It is truly awful.

It’s at least the second time. I did a thread on it 3 or 4 years ago. Those pictures are HERE if anyone wants to see more of the town, but be warned: they’re the spawn of a disposable camera and not nearly as good as Hero’s.

No, but its further reaches will get into the Loudoun County sprawl… And unfortunately, the 19th Century rail line that used to serve it has been ripped out and replaced with a trail.

Very nice town....I think this is where Rick Santorum lived so the town needs to be completely deloused.....

Great pics - I've been here a few times, the main street is nice - the rest of the area is horrible...an incredible amount of sprawl. Aside from the small older section of the town, it's all just souless NOVA track development.
