new york city: brooklyn's bedford-stuyvesant neighborhood

a walk around brooklyn’s bedford-stuyvesant neighborhood (aka bed-stuy) -- part one of four:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedford...sant,_Brooklyn

first up are two surprising and well kept courts off a scubby stretch of atlantic ave better known for auto repair shops and el tracks running down the middle of it:

alice court

agate court

some view! the lirr wizzing by as seen from the back of agate court

waah! interfaith hospital on atlantic forgot to include faith in architecture -- sorry!

next is one of my favorite little stretches, this is chauncey street in front of fulton park & boys&girls hs

a peek at the back yards behind stuyvesant street at chauncey street

on the easternmost boundry of bed-stuy, homes on & around lower stuyvesant street are spectacular

** stay tuned -- part two features bed-stuy & nyc’s longest brownstone stretch***

no more junk food!

a grocery in old post office

the bed-stuy tour winds up here at franklin street station

lastly, that is brooklyn’s iconic williamsburg bank building condo in the distance

*** I hope you enjoyed the four part walking tour of bed-stuy, if you are interested in this grand old brooklyn neighborhood there is much more to see here:

Wow, what a tour, I knew there was a reason why I love Brooklyn so much. I've driven through this neighborhood a few times on my way into the city from JFK. Never knew there was that much beauty, the architecture is just awesome.

Stunning, top-notch tour. Just a flat-out gorgeous neighborhood. Too bad Brownsville isn't as intact as Bed-Stuy.

This forum could use a lot more neighborhood-level NY tours like this.

Excellent stuff.

Wonderful, a grand tour of one of my favorite nabes in the country. Is there a chance you can do Crown Heights, too?

At any rate, keep up the great work, man.
