Patrick, your city is looking fantastic. One thing, it'd be better if you didn't make the edges so thick since they give it too much of a cartoon-like feeling. Go to window, display settings then in the box next to "profiles" change whatever the number is to 1. This'll make the lines 1 pixel thick.

I've been thinking about that for a long time. CGII's City looks so realalistic it would be awsome to see Staunton look like with photo-real textures.

Well I'm going to try something out.

Thanks! But I dont know, I kinda like the cartoony style of Staunton. But like I said above I'll try some photo-real textures and see how it turns out

Ok I started making Photo-real Textures and so far things are turning out great. Although it will take a long time to re-texture every single building in town.

The Good News is, when I make photoshopped pictures, the sky and the buildings match, making a very realalistic picture.

The Bad News is that when the Profiles are turned on, it dosnt look right. When they are off those annoying white lines appear of the sides of the buildings. But when photoshopped, they arent so noticeable.

I saved the original Staunton, so the old Textures arent lost.

Here's a Small Preview of what is to come.

The Orange Financial Building and The Stevenson Insurance Building.

From Civic Park, Buildings like City Hall are now have photo-real textures.

More Soon

No! Your Textures are very detailed. If you look at mine, you can see a part of a building pasted over and over again. City City is very detailed right down to the small shops. Staunton focuses on taller buildings. My small buildings look completly lame

Here are a few more shots in progress. It is Taking Forever to re-texture every building in the city.

Civic Center Shot, Few Changes

Jefferson Turning Out VERY Well. If you notice, the public housing towers have simular textures to the older ones, (compare to the last shot of Jefferson)

Slums of Jefferson Heights turned out great.

I might chage the textures on the Garden State building. As you can see glass buildings now have photo-real textures (like the JCsummit Tower) Still a long way to go.

Small Update:

Callahan Park City, along with new textures, a whole new design. You remember those bright colorful buildings? I erased every one of them except for the unfinished tower. I put smaller buildings in the center and a nice park.

What it looked like when the towers where first created.

Where are you two getting these great textures from? The few times I've tried to do photorealistic in the past, I've had a hell of a time finding decent source images. I hardly need to tell you how impressed I am with your stuff, Patrick, it really is phenomenal.

lol, that what I was aiming for

Bergenser - Sure! That would be awsome, I'll try to make one once the re-texturing is done

cur_sed - I get my textures from Windows Live Local's Bird's eyes view. I photoshop and crop them for Staunton. Most textures are from buildings in New York City.
http://local.live.com/

foxmtbr and BoiseAirport - Thanks! I need more feedback

Presenting the Carter Place (most likely will change the name soon)

The Carter Place was originally the Metopolitan Building (the plain tall tower between the City's two tallest) I redid the whole block, kept a few of the original buildings, just added details to them. The Metropolitan building was awfully plain, so I remodeled it but it still has elements of the original design.

The Carter Place is like the John Hancock Building in Chicago. It has shops, offices, condominiums, apartments, a mall, and more. The tower was originally a 1950's office building for and industrial company, which explains its indsustrial look.

The Original Metropolitan Building compared to the new. (all old pictures photoshopped)

Then

Now

Thats it for now
