While the old Forks Market was Granville Island-ish, the renovation, introduction of alcohol, more food options, and the removal of some of the more touristy vendors, has made it much more like Ponce City Market, and it's better for it.
And since someone else mentioned it, I find Byward (somehow I've had the fortune to visit all of these markets) kind of tacky. Again, very touristy. I'd take the current Forks over that, any day of the week.
I always hoped the old Eaton's/Scott-Bathgate warehouse might get turned into big loft condos with those glorious old windows, just in time for me to be in the market
