Providence is a gem, plain and simple. And to think that where many of those nice new residential midrises are going up now used to be a paved-over river.
In a way, Providence is lucky that Rhode Island was so damn poor during the 60s and 70s - due to lack of funds, the city never undertook the large scale urban renewal projects which destroyed swaths of Boston, Hartford and other Northeastern cities.
These are some of the best Providence pics we've ever seen on this forum, Clevelumbus, thanks for the time and effort! What did you think of Boston's little brother? I hope you had time to visit Federal Hill (Prov's Little Italy). My parents love one place in particular there so much that they often take the T down from Boston to Providence on the weekends to get their fix:
Pastiche Fine Desserts. This place beats anything in the North End, save possibly Mike's Pastry.
