Saint Petersburg, FL | Downtown, Grand Central, Botanical Gardens
Downtown:
Nice protected bikeway, with bikeshare:
Grand Central:
"Grand Central" is the neighborhood immediately west of downtown. It's a sort of midtown, I guess, but there are no tall buildings. A lot of good local retail though.
Great bookstore:
Classy:
Saint Pete's main bus hub is in this neighborhood, and is thus hilariously named "Grand Central Station." It's a pretty nice bus station, chuckle-inducing name notwithstanding.
I hate these things. They're functionally bad (uncomfortable, slow to load/unload, etc) and they send an advertising message that undermines transit (buses are an old-timey "ride," not legit day-to-day transportation).

Did you explore the waterfront park downtown any? There some mysterious old statues, which look like they might have come off an historic building perhaps now demolished, displayed there in the park with no plaque to explain what they are or why they're there. Serious wear and tear notwithstanding, they're quite pretty.

No. This wasn't much of an "exploration" trip. I was there because my mother-in-law lives there. Taking pictures was a side thing while we were having family time.
I love downtown St. Pete. There are great restaurants, breweries and shops and it's got a way funkier vibe than downtown Tampa. Also some great museums in the Dali Museum and Chihuly gallery. Also love this place: https://localegourmetmarket.com
Nice pictures! Downtown St. Petersburg isn't too bad. I think I went to a bar for my birthday in one of the old brick buildings in that fourth picture a few years ago.
Downtown St. Pete has some nice nightlife, and has a nice collection of old buildings here and there. Mixed in with newer buildings and the greenery, it seems like a pretty nice place to live.

Yes, the Dali museum is fantastic. We also had a delicious breakfast at the Banyan Cafe in Saint Petersburg. For a quick vacation, the Tampa - Saint Petersburg area exceeded my expectations.
