Best looking transit liveries in Canada

So, since there is a similar thread for police cars, why not transit agencies? This includes buses, trains, light rail, etc.

I used to like GO Transit's old livery but the new Metrolinx green just doesn't appeal to me...

We only have Metrobus, and the only attractive one is The Trolley Line, which circles around the Old Town on many of the routes previously served by trolleys.





Most of the rest are completely covered in advertising, typically for local radio, evening news casts, or Republic of Doyle.

Trolley Line eh, I think Charlottetown Transit can do you one better…….

Behold the livery of Charlottetown Transit, a garish faux trolley urban bus system designed to appeal (wrongly) to visiting tourists and to exploit the "quaintness"of the city. To be clear - this is an actual transit bus, not a tourist shuttle.



Personally I find these busses to be both hideous and embarrassing. Quite a feat really……..

More embarrassing than upsetting IMHO. It's the sort of thing that tends to make the Island seem more like an enclave of rubes, hicks and bumpkins rather than as a functioning part of 21st century North America. I honestly don't know what they were thinking (or smoking) at the time.

But the most embarrassing thing of all - I mean the icing on the cake - I mean the absolute piece de resistance - is the fact that once you board the bus, you sit on park benches rather than standard seats. I kid you not.

Hamilton's articulated buses have a custom silver/blue/yellow livery to differentiate them from other buses:

We also have the same replica trolley buses as Charlottetown, but ours run on the 99 Waterfront Shuttle during the summer only. They also have the same seats on the inside, with the wooden bench seat portions. Pretty uncomfortable and kinda lame looking.

Our regular buses are kinda boring looking. The HSR was looking at repainting all of them into the same scheme as the 60 footers but abandoned the idea. They kinda look cool on the Xcelsior buses though:

If the Charlottetown trolley busses were only used downtown, and only in the summertime to help get tourists back and forth from the waterfront, that would be one thing - and it would be OK; but these are year round regular transit busses - and that's not OK. We're talking about a provincial capital here, and some dignity within the transit system should be in order. In any event, 'nuff said.

Codiac Transpo livery in Moncton NB. Any regionally shared service across the metro area (Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview) tends to be shackled with the moniker "Codiac" - e.g. Codiac Regional RCMP.



That's a bike rack on the front of the bus, so you can take your bike with you on your ride. All busses are also wifi equipped and GPS enabled, so you can track the busses on your smartphones. This can be handy on a rainy day if you don't want to get caught waiting too long for your ride. You can just check the location of the bus and run out to catch it at the last minute - smart.
