I think it's a pretty cool concept.

Interesting idea, but it would never work. Many reason for this:

~ What fan would want to sit a block away from the action, or as the article says, 30 floors up? Even if they don't mind being so far away, who would pay for such a bad view?
~ Stadiums have access areas for vehicles to make transporting goods in bulk easier. How would this be done in a skyscraper? How would you bring a moving van full of training equipment up to the stadium after driving it back from Spring Training?
~ Being that high up would mean lots of wind, and having home run balls to straight-away center blow in or blow foul would ruin the experience for fans. The wind would probably be very aggravating for fans and players.

1. Build it in downtown Las Vegas
2. Expand Fremont street experience to totally surround it and double as a net.
3. !?!?!?!
4. You know.

This whole thing reminds me of a proposal to build an airport on top of several skyscrapers.

I think it's much more realistic that a stadium will someday appear over a mall or transit station. Yes, Madison Square Garden is an abomination, but it's an efficient use of space.

If anywhere, I'd expect this in Japan. Does anyone know if they have any examples of mixed use stadiums? Maybe this deserves another thread.

Wind can really effect ball games. Look this video from a soccer match on a very windy day in Germany

I could be wrong but I thought terminal velocity was between 120 and 150 MPH. Might kill you if it hit just right but not exactly bullet speed.

No. It's a myth that's been debunked. It'll sting like hell, but it will not kill you.

Here is the mythbuster video on the deadly penny myth.

I still think you could surround the place in a Fremont Street Experience-type thing. Problem solved.

Hmmm cool proposal but I don't think this will ever get built in the next 10-20 years.

very interesting concept but it could still be hugely improved. i dont think baseball is the right sport for this though would be much better as a concert venue or something similar.
