According to Lend Lease, the shorter tower (along Main Street) has topped out:

Quote:
(San Francisco, CA) — Lend Lease, one of the world’s largest property, infrastructure and construction management firms, has topped out the Main Street Tower at the LUMINA project, bringing the largest residential development in San Francisco one step closer to completion.

“We’re very excited to have achieved this project milestone for this highly anticipated project that will transform the San Francisco skyline,” said Peter Read, Vice President/Project Executive. “I want to acknowledge the combined efforts of the union trades, Tishman Speyer and our Lend Lease project team for their tireless efforts, and look forward to the successful completion of this project with these highly dedicated individuals,” said Read.

Lumina in the fog this morning. It's been fun to watch these buildings go up from my office!

Lumina is getting a grocery store next year:

Quote:
The burgeoning high-rise enclave growing between the future Transbay Transit Center and Rincon Hill will get its first grocery store, a locally owned market on the ground floor of the 656-unit Lumina condo development at Main and Folsom streets.

The 9,500-square-foot store, Market on Main, won’t open for a year, but it will start off a new pedestrian-oriented Folsom Street, which city planners are billing as a boulevard of bike lanes, retail shops, wide sidewalks, pocket parks and ample greenery. It’s a sign that the area is on its way to becoming a neighborhood.

Carl Shannon, senior managing director of Tishman Speyer, which is developing Lumina, said a grocery store has been a top priority for residents in existing neighborhood towers.

“When we talked to residents at the Infinity, the thing that really jumped out was that everyone said we really need a market where we can get prepared food and high-quality groceries we can take upstairs and cook,” Shannon said. “San Francisco is a very food-driven culture, and our residents are no exception to that.”
And condo sales have been strong so far:

Quote:
So far, sales in Lumina have been brisk, with 176 units in contract since the sales center opened three months ago. They are not cheap — averaging close to $1,400 a square foot. The first structure in the four-building complex, a 71-unit mid-rise at 318 Main St., is sold out and will open in July. So far, more than 80 percent of buyers have come from the Bay Area and about 50 percent already live in San Francisco.

IMO if you already live in SF, you're not going to buy another luxury condo property in SF as a pied-a-terre, so these are likely people who are moving and therefore opening up more housing to others. Encouraging.

Thanks! Didn't mean to post and run away but I went on vacation and then forgot about it. I'm working on a time lapse of the building construction just for fun. I have been taking a photo a day, Monday through Friday since June. I'll share the work in progress soon!

The windows are going up in a hurry on the east tower. They're are about half way up the building now.

Not as good as dmacrostie's picture, but Lumina is going to be a good fog collector... this one from early this morning.

Lumina is a great example of San Francisco's twist on the Vancouver style--we have 7-story 'filler' between the towers, rather than empty plazas and parkspace.
