I've been to Montreal many times, but this skyscraper at centre-left I sadly do not recognize... and I love it. What building is this? Tour Telus? (after some internet checking)

Whoa, Toronto. That view of the skyline from the east near the end of your post is the best, I think.

That one is mislabelled. It's Joanna Barker, and she's great - one of the top Labrador Aboriginal artists, for sure, but not famous yet:

Couple shots of the Château Laurier. The view will change dramatically once the new addition is built.

Those are the iconic vantage points, not the view of the boring front from Colonel By next to the Westin. Not many tourists first approach it from there as you claim. Another iconic viewpoint is from Sappers Bridge above the locks, and the heatsink/shipping container will be highly visible from there as well. Here are a couple of recent pictures I took of the view that is threatened by this abomination.

Sad, they need to leave it alone. And maybe tear down the Westin behind it.

Ya, a few people on the Ottawa forum made similar comments, pointing out that the Westin stands out like a sore thumb. I'd be happy with a glassy re-clad.

Barbarians at the gate. Hopefully the damage they do is reversible so the hotel (and surrounding areas) can be restored one day.

so dumb That's probably the most beautiful view of the hotel and it's going to be ruined now. Ugh, Enjoy your tabletop skyline and ruined views of the Laurier Ottawa
