The Eastern Townships region in Quebec is even more like this. I think the houses in Ile d'Orleans show some elements that are shared in common with New England houses, but also clearly show that they are coming from a French Canadian vernacular tradition and look noticeably different from non-French Canadian towns in New England. Another thing that makes this region of Quebec look visibly distinct from New England is that the land is divided into strip farms rather then square townships, which effects land development patterns and makes for a different look and feel.

Beautiful shots, FrAnKs!

Vey nice place and fantastic weather, certainly not very common in Québec at the beginning of May. I suppose it would appear like Summer there.

St-Laurent-de-L´ile-D´Orléans has very nice houses, and yes, it´s similar to New England. It looks a lovely place to live in.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

I'm pretty sure that cemetery is where we shot a scene from the movie "Taking Lives" in summer 2003. A scene where a casket is pulled out of a hole in the ground. I remember checking out the bakery across the road and eating a delicious almond croissant.

Ste-Pétronille near there is one of Quebec City's society country hideaway towns. Very nice residential and clubby inns. Quebec City's élite which at one time comprised a lot more anglos than today is invariably clannish and preppy in the extreme. Sillery and Ste-Foy are the old suburbs now merged with QC where the wealthy reside apart from the old citadel; la haute ville. The old families that date back to New France are very much the answer to Boston's blue bloods and they will let you know it.
