The other day, I rode my bike out to Jamaica Bay, and brought the camera along. There are amazing views from some of the bridges out there. All of the pictures here are from the bridge in the map below.
For a sense of scale, the distance across the bay alone is about 5 miles. The distance to lower Manhattan is about 15 miles.
Interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that you could see Manhattan from there, but the bay provided unobstruction. It's interesting to see a mix of nature and gritty urbanity, too.
