Ahh yes the CP proposal from the dirty thirties. This would have really been something else. Any specs?
Here is another rendition:

Around 1940, Quebec City was perceived as a potential candidate to receive the new U.N. headquarters. Here is a rendering of the said headquarters which would have been built on the Battlefields Park, near the cliff overlooking the St-Lawrence river... Man, it would have been massive and simply incredible!!!

The biggest proposal for Toronto would have been a 15 storey, 40 million square foot building that would of occupied most of the land which makes up the CBD.
Alberta Plaza, Eaton Center, and that Twin tower proposal!! Calgary had some great proposals.... Damn shame they never got built. Not just the height on these, but I quite liked the design and symmetry of these skyscrapers! Maybe someday.
project 200 - which was to have gone along with the freeway that never got built

scroll down to page 51. Sometimes I think it would have been cool if there was this massive structure in the middle of downtown Toronto, surrounded by the skyscrapers that we know today.
Looking at some of these old proposals really makes you think about how different some of these cities could be.

Here's a rendering that CtrlAltDel did a while back showing the Calgary skyline if those buildings had been built. The Bow is thrown in for good measure also.
