A taste of St John's Nfld

A few pics from North America's eastern most metro, and one of North America's more interesting cities.

These pics are from a recent trip in June, where I got the chance to meet up with some of the St John's SSP contingent (SignalHillHiker, Jeddy, Copes) all cool guys..

Aaahhh... I love it! It's so fascinating to see your city through someone else's eyes. And your photography skills are amazing.

This is one of my favourite St. John's pictures ever: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevincappis/9475207525/

I love your style. I still struggle with zooming in on specific scenes. I tend to be instinctively drawn to including entire streets or neighbourhoods into panoramic scenes. I really struggle, for example, to take an interesting picture of one or two buildings on Water Street but you just nail it. It looks so urban that way - I really like it. I'm going to practice that.

And it was great meeting you too - such a fun weekend. Pity about the weather while you were here. We swear to God it was beautiful before you came and after you left. Denscity managed to hit a stretch of hot, humid, sunny weather.

Thanks Ryan! I noticed that the weather picked up after I left, talk about timing lol!

I can't wait to hit St John's when it's sunny. The sun on those colored buildings will be amazing!

AMAZING photos! Lively and atmospheric. Newfoundland is #1 on my list of North American destinations I want to visit - it looks like such a vibrant, lovely place.

Thanks for posting, Surrealplaces!

Of course what calls attention in threads about this place - at least mine, living a place often strictly whitish/écru like the local limestone, that's very easily soiled and requires some recurrent heavy and costly cleaning - is the colorful wooden facades, like this:
