This past weekend a couple of friends and I did a wee trip to the City of Saskatoon. It is roughly 500km east of our fair city.
Enjoy!
------------
Car, check
Coffee, not check
Ok, stop for coffee at Lock Stock. Tartines you say...
Departing downtown Edmonton
Lloydminster straddles the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan to the left, Alberta to the right
Absolutely love the old grain elevators
They used concrete to form this?
...some 5 hours later we arrive at one of our two hotels for the weekend, The Senator.
Winston's Pub adjacent to the hotel
Let it begin
Flint became a regular for us on this trip, love how it is a breakfast/brunch joint in the morning with one owner and a cocktail bar in the evening with another owner.
Dirty and local
Saskatchewan has a love affair with one thing and one thing only, The Riders.
The parks along the river were incredible
The mighty South Saskatchewan River
A beach, well used I might add, literally in the middle of the city! #jealousysetsin
Tres for Una
The waiting game for Una
Cold is warm
Love me my rooftops, of which Saskatoon had many!
Local beer in this town was plentiful, diverse and delicious... Edmonton take note!
Cheers!
Too funny
The high quality public realm in this towne was very impressive, be it bike/neighbourhood identity pieces or other details.
Love the honesty
This family was wonderfully friendly and the little guy adorable.
mmmmmm
Let us all commit to using more of these little spaces to enhance or compliment others
Snag some basil from the garden behind me, + to pizza, hello flavour town
Ok, back to the majestic Bess for Jazzfest... well after a few stops...
The skies then decided to open up on us
Ok, back on track... and our friend Tracy's room at the Bess... acceptable view
Cheers to good friends, times and that awful red drink
Ok
Wait for it...
wait....
wait some more...
Ms. Lauryn Hill everyone!!!
Pass
Post concert we decided that this town is not going to win, so we should go enjoy some mores of its.
This one time, this one time we went to Winston's. *Protip, do not wear dog tags and wait 45mins for some 'friendly' people to come tell you what they think.
Goodnight Saskatoon, you impressed me today... what do you have for me tomorrow?
