Wow, this is amazing. Looks like a European town. What is that castle/train station like big building at the left ?

That's the old Union Station (demolished in 1927).

I like the current Union much better! Though I wish they hadn't demolished that one.

Ps. those Toronto pics are incredible.

The clock tower is now located in Muskoka on the Huntsville town-hall.

Union station is a great building, especially the exterior.

Our waterfront is going to look like a paradise in a few years compared to this. I can only imagine how polluted the inner harbour used to be. On some of our older structures you can still see the black soot from years of coal burning in our city.

Awesome TO skyline shots. Very interesting how Mtl and TO skylines were completely different in philosophy and form!

Gorgeous photos, Rico. So many of our historic shots just aren't nice photos - in composition, quality, etc.

Those are brilliant, especially the first and last.

Here's one for train fanatics. Train leaving Windsor station, montreal.
The source claims this was taken in 1911. But the tower in the background wasn't built until 1916.

I'm not going to post them here as this is for skylines, but if anyone wants to see some pictures of Toronto's biggest slum in the early 1900s, check 'em out here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=992

Or for some slightly nicer fare: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=993

This is from a mural on the hoarding around the construction site of EAP II.
