Not to get crazy in the title, but the fall foliage colors on display here were maybe the best I've seen... intense oranges and yellows in every direction.
So on Sunday my lady and I made a day trip up to my childhood hometown (lived there from ages 1-7) of Brattleboro, Vermont, a town that oozes New England charm from every corner and is known as a little hippy haven in the southeastern corner of Vermont, just across the Connecticut River from New Hampshire and about five miles from the border with Massachusetts.
Brattleboro has a very dense little downtown hemmed in by water and hills that's packed with shops, bookstores and restaurants, and it always finds a way to surprise me, this time in the form of all the traffic and people there to see the colors just like we were (plus it was a holiday weekend). I've never seen my little town so absolutely bursting with traffic, and although it was a bit chaotic, I'd certainly take that over finding it desolate and ignored--I didn't see even one retail vacancy in all of downtown.
So here we go, driving though central MA
And now in town
Quick trip across the bridge to New Hampshire, just once this Amtrak train moves...
The Connecticut River
And back into town
Mount Wantastiquet frames the view to the east
And now we move to the west side of town, looking back towards Wantastiquet
Things get VERY leafy around here
This is easily one of the best scenes I've ever seen
ME WANT LIVE HERE
And then my camera battery died and my backup battery was dead too oops
I hope you enjoyed this little tour! I know I sure did
