Mexibone does Dallas! Part One

I recently spent a week in Dallas, from 5/15/11 through 5/20/11.
I attended something called the Transit Academy which was hosted by DART(Dallas Area Rapid Transit). It was actually really interesting because we got to tour all of their projects and we got to learn everything that makes that system tick.
Our host hotel was The Magnolia, which was awesome!
Needless to say, I was a big fan of both Dallas and their transit system.
These pictures are out of order and will come in three installments.
I got a chance to also visit the Uptown area of Dallas, as well as Fort Worth and the Stock Yards. Those pics will come later on.
I'm a beginner in taking/posting pictures so your comments are welcome.
Enjoy!

Ok, that's it for today folks. I hope you enjoyed!

Nice pics! The D is looking pretty good! I especially like the converging angles in some of your vertical shots!

thanks for the tour, a nice mix of pics. i miss Dallas and look forward to the rest.

be careful abut cropping the top and bottom off of buildings (although depending on the lens, you may not be able to.

and while you may not be able to help it, try to avoid photographing people from the back.

Nice photos thanks for sharing.

I've always liked downtown Dallas and I'm glad to see more people on the sidewalks these days. This is certainly an improvement from the last time I visit the area.

Thanks for the comments y'all!

Having been back home for about a week now, I am starting to realize exactly how much I enjoyed my week there. It was a vibrant city. We did something different every night and had a great time. I was really impressed with the amount of construction still taking place all over the city. It reminds me of Atlanta in the late 90's/early '00's. I can really see myself living there.

Lots of great things going on in Dallas, such a nice city and a lot more fun, progressive and cosmopolitan than it ever gets credit for.

I agree. I lived in Dallas for a few years and had a hell of a good time while I was there. Not my favorite city by any means, primarily due to the natural environment and its isolated location, but it does pretty good with what it has. True it sprawls, but many cities do, and the central, older parts of Dallas offer some cool, nice neighborhoods. It gets a worse rap than it deserves.

Total agreement here. Dallas has done such a good job at core and transit development... especially over the last decade. Now the city is starting to reap some of the benefits of all that hard work. Even with DART's current rough financial patch, they can be proud that they invested in such an extensive system, and will be the first to benefit as the economy recovers (or if gas prices rise again).

Dallas is really an architectural treasure with beautiful buildings. Nice to see life on the sidewalks too!
