Thundertubs, that photo looking down the pier onto the lake deserves to be printed large and framed. It's the sort of image that would be good on the wall above a desk, to be gazed at when one needs a mental escape from drudgery and pressure. The light and the scene came together perfectly, and you really captured the feeling.

Yea, if any of y'all have these on Flickr. Post the link below the photo, cause I'd definitely like to "Fave" some of'm.

This one was taken just outside of Birmingham, about 5 miles from downtown, in a preserve in Hoover, AL. Bright and sunshiny day, but I managed to cut out the glare.

Many people dont equate Alabama with mountains, but there is some beautiful scenery up there in north eastern Alabama.

Very true. A lot of people think it's all farmland, haha. There are some pretty flat places, but about 1/3 of the state is at least very hilly. In some cases, the vertical relief of the mountains rivals states further north and east.

Birmingham is definitely one of those cities that has a lot to offer in the mountain (hill if you're from somewhere like Colorado) department. It's nice to see regional leadership taking action to preserve places like the one I took the above picture in.

If any of you haven't seen pictures of some waterfalls in Alabama, you might wanna do a Flickr search for Desoto Falls, Noccalulu Falls, or Little River Falls. They aren't grand by any means, but they're definitely a sight to see.

That's the water tower in Volunteer Park, isn't it? I was there in 1982 and went up. Tiny windows but a fabulous view. It's a beautiful park, so lush and green.
