Epic Journey, Epic Thread.

I spent so much time not only looking at the photos but also Wikipedia'n and Streetviewing so many locations you presented.

Excellent photos as usual.

Yes and know. It's obviously much smaller and has no row homes but it is built into a hilly landscape like Pittsburg and was a dirty steel city at one point too. The topography more than anything reminded me of pittsburgh.

Thanks, Cincinnati really surprised me, I had no idea it had such beautiful historic neighborhoods and was amazed at how intact many of them were. Although a lot of gentrification is needed in many parts.

Great pictures! Sometimes it's the little things that are the coolest, like the Natchez Trace Trail, Rodney, and New Echota. I went and looked up each of these things after seeing your pictures.

Epic is correct - a fantastic journey through a very particular slice of America.

Also, I would like to say/confirm that Lexington is definitely an underrated city. The city is cool and the outskirts and countryside are even cooler. I don't even like horses but seeing horse country is COOL!

Yeah I usually don't like smaller cities but Lexington is a place if I had to I wouldn't mind living there. It's beautifully preserved, and the country around it is absolutely amazing.

Very cool thread.

It amazes me that they're apparently still doing 60s-style urban renewal in Cincinnati.

The "new urbanist" "town center/centre" thing is kind of the new 60s "urban renewal." Except it's not housing projects, I guess.
