*Get To Know Utah Series:-^-^Utah's Second City, Ogden^-^-

The 'Get To Know Utah Series' sets to highlight Utah, a state in the western United States, and its major cities through photographs. Each of Utah's five metropolitan areas, and their principle city's, will be showcased, in order of MSA size, starting from least to greatest:

Ogden, Utah, located about 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, is traditionally considered Utah's second city, and boomed during completion of the Transcontinental Railroad as it served as a major hub. This spurred major growth in the early decades of the 1900s, lending to many of the historic buildings and architecture seen. After the decline of the railroad, Ogden saw a decline in prominence, which led to a reputation of being run down and crime-ridden during the later part of the 1900s. The city of nearly 83,000 has started seeing positive growth again, in both population and revitalization, and the city and community have taken a very proactive approach. 25th Street is considered one of the most vibrant and hip in the entire state, and the historical architecture and homes are among the most notable in Utah. The city is also known for being quite diverse and has plenty of character. Additional info: Wikipedia - Ogden, Utah

Thanks for viewing - hope you enjoyed Ogden as much as I do.

Next up the series will explore one of America's fasting growing areas - Provo.

Ogden does look like a very charming city. The old, historic buildings are very nice and I love the mountain backdrops. Thanks!

Ogden has such a nice group of historic buildings. Sometime I just forget what nice looking buildings that city has.
Also I like all the color lights that light up at the Megaplex.

I think Ogden was able to boom during a really good time for architecture. Mixed in with some modern buildings, the skyline will really look great.

Thanks for the comments so far guys.

Definitely, and Ogden really has that 'wild west' feel in a way, especially along 25th street which used to connect up to the railroad. I could just envision it back in the day being a wild / fun / crazy sort of place.

It almost looks kind of artsy....I'm guessing those pictures were taken in the college neighborhood.

Actually about 95% of the shots were downtown. There's a University there, Weber State University, but I didn't get any pictures of it - it's on the benches of the mountains there.

Yes they are. They're Rookie-Advanced class for the Dodgers. Are you going to come all the way from Philly?
