I think you could easily come up with 40-50 of these for New York. Basically any suburban downtown with a busy rail station will have a sizable town center with some multifamily, shopping and some regional business functions, and probably a few midrises/highrises. All will have apartment clusters near the station.
I mean, Westchester County alone, you could do White Plains, Yonkers (multiple nodes near stations), Port Chester, Mount Vernon (East and West), New Rochelle, Hartsdale, Mamaroneck, Peekskill and Ossining. And I'm not even counting the fancy type suburban downtowns (the Rye/Bronxville/Hastings/Irvington type places).
