Absolutely outstanding, ColDayMan!

So glad you actually got to see the "real" Orlando, away from the Attractions Corridor.

Thoughts/Opinions?

Orlando has some nicer inner-neighborhoods around Lake (Eola?) and downtown seems to have some momentum going for it. Otherwise, I didn't see much else of note aside from having been to Winter Park before and, well, the International Drive area. Downtown Orlando was far more intimate than I thought it was going to be, in contrast to a largely open, broad, almost empty feeling Tampa. Jacksonville had some nice little neighborhood commercial strips along with a downtown that strangely reminded me of a smaller Detroit (people mover and all!).

You are correct Sir, it is Eola. There are amazingly beautiful, old school neighborhoods to the East, South, and NW of Downtown that would remind you of Winter Park - but even older. Orlando has residential neighborhoods that would blow most people here away - many of them historic.

Tampa is the same way. It is older and larger, and has just as many older hoods.

The same goes for Jacksonville.

I happen to be very biased in favor of Orlando, though. I went through most of High School there.

Totally agree on Orlando's downtown compared to that of Tampa (though Ybor kind of evens things up there and it's closer than Winter Park. Orlando does have some really nice close in neighborhoods.

I see you found a parking garage at Arnold Palmer hospital. I've got some recent shots from nearby there as well. Orlando has a surprisingly dense skyline, it's just really short.

Great shots as always. If I would have know you were going to be in the area I would have loved to give you a tour. It looks like you went through Riverside/Avondale, based on the pics from the Ortega River Bridge area(?).

You're also dead on about the Detroit reference. People down here laugh at me when I make that statement. But what has happened to DT Jax and it's older more urban Northside neighborhoods are pretty similar to Detroit's story. Just a much smaller scale that has been largely hidden by the city/county merger.

There's a height limit due to a nearby airport.

Yes, I actually ate at one of those FroYo places in the Avondale/Riverside area. Very laid back vibe.

And next time I go to Jacksonville, I'll definitely give you a ring. I keep forgetting you don't live in Lakeland! LOL!

Beautiful tour along Florida! Thanks for your pics.

I´ve liked specially Jacksonville, and Orlando too. I´ve never visited Orlando´s downtown and it looks pretty. In 1998 we went to Tampa for visiting Busch Gardens, that´s the only I know about Tampa. I see it´s worth to visit its downtown too.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Nice photos of Jax Beach.

The relentless brutality of this particular March has me pining for some of that pleasant sun and warmth. So jealous...... so so jealous.......
