Multnomah Village, Portland

I recently bought a new camera and have been anxious to get out and familiarize myself with it. This morning I was driving by Multnomah Village - a small business district in SW Portland - and decided it would be a good place to stop for some test shots. Hope you enjoy!

Wow amazing photos.

The neighbourhood seems in transition -- and looks very funky. It almost seems trendy but less vibrant. I especially love the hills...we don't get too much hilly roads aside from in the river valley here. You guys are lucky to have it. I am always astounded by the Portland and San Francisco hills.

I will definitely try to check out this neighbourhood if I remember if I visit Portland this summer.

Always loved going there when I use to live out in Beaverton. Would stop to eat and get my haircut. It looks like it hasn't changed much and thank God. The cool thing is I would stay some nights with my friend there and get snowed in and call into the Central Library downtown that I wouldn't be able to get there on time because we got 4-5 inches of snow. And they would say what snow.

It is like a little village. And again so nice to see it hasn't changed much at all. Thanks for the photo shoot.

P.S. In PDX it is often easy to be in one of the neighborhoods and think you are actually in a village.

great shots, this in one of the only neighborhoods in Portland I have yet to go to for some reason. It is in that weird area of the city that is way out of my way for some reason.

I really should make a little trip out there for the fun of it.

It's my first SLR - a Canon Rebel XS. Takes some getting used to but I'm pretty stoked about it.

Yeah, sort of incorporated back in the day. I used to live about a 1/2 mile south of this mini-downtown, you had to walk down some blackberry-strewn gravel roads to get to it.

Surprisingly, Multnomah Village is only 15-20 minutes by bus from downtown Portland! (5 miles?) They also have another little mini-downtown near it called Hillsdale a couple miles down the road, but yes the hills are a bit steep. Really good library and farmer's market. Very quiet, however - great place if you like to garden and live in the city. I-5 is only about a mile or so down the road.

Nice... I'm guessing the hilly topography kind of lends itself to defining these distinct neighborhoods.
